The ARC Leadership System
A shared language is important across all levels of a team. The ARC system is a simple, memorable, useful mnemonic and mental framework so the whole team is on the same page.
Align
Align your team with a shared purpose and core values. Inspired by Good to Great by Jim Collins, you'll learn about the benefits of alignment, as well as how to determine your team's purpose and core values.
Reinforce
Reinforce your team's purpose with objectives (outcome goals) and your core values with standards (process goals). As spelled out in The Program by Jake MacDonald and Eric Kapitulik, goal setting can be particularly useful in teams, as it ensures the team can tell when it succeeds. Standards go a long way toward creating a powerful team culture and guaranteeing success.
Cascade
Cascade control downwards by providing clarity and ensuring competence. L. David Marquet's framework he developed from his experience in the United States Navy (explained in his book Turn the Ship Around) focuses on pushing control as far downwards in a team as possible. Turning every team member into a leader is a powerful way to drive results, retention, and recruitment.
